In this schematic, is there a Zener Diode placed in the circuit board for over-voltage protection to prevent using a different power supply than what is recommended? There would be no other reason for this diode than to short out at a higher then normal supply voltage. This HP laptop is dead. I know that I have been using power supplies other than what came with it when it was new.

If this is the case for this problem, then removing the zener diode would fix the laptop.
